Savor the Sweetness: "Honeysweet" Unveils a Heartwarming Romance Set to Enchant Philippine Cinemas

Indulge in the heartwarming tale of "Honeysweet," a charming romance that unfolds between a gifted yet introverted snacks researcher and an exuberantly extroverted woman. Prepare for a delightful cinematic experience, commencing today, August 30th.

Yoo Hae-jin, a familiar face to Filipino audiences through films like "Veteran," "Luck Key," and the two-part movie "Confidential Assignment" alongside Hyun Bin, steps into the shoes of Chi-ho, who excels professionally but his social life remains nonexistent.

Immersed in the pursuit of crafting irresistibly addictive flavors, Chi-ho's meals consist mainly of chips, leading to a toll on his health. Amidst this, he grapples with the financial burden left by his reckless older brother. This quest brings him to a loan company, where he crosses paths with Il-young, a vivacious phone operator.

Il-young, portrayed by acclaimed actress Kim Hee-seon from TV series like "Tomorrow" and "The Lady in Dignity," exudes unbridled energy and directness. As a single mother with dreams of true love, she injects a vibrant spectrum of colors into Chi-ho's monotonous world.

Witness their journey from strangers to soulmates, navigating the influences of those around them, in this heartening film helmed by director Lee Han. Known for infusing unique sensibilities and humor into his works, Lee Han's past successes include "Punch" and "Silent Witness."

Director Lee Han's choice of Yoo Hae-jin as Chi-ho stems from his ability to authentically convey a gamut of emotions. "YOO Hae-jin possesses a profound and impeccable emotional balance," notes the director.

For Kim Hee-seon, this movie marks her return after a decade-long hiatus. She shared her sentiments in an interview with The Korea Times, recounting how the director's heartfelt letter convinced her of the perfect fit for the role of Il-young.

Backing the leads are an exceptional supporting cast. Cha In-pyo, recognized for works like "What Happened to Mr. Cha?" and "Ongals," portrays Suk-ho, Chi-ho’s jobless and gambling-prone brother. Jin Sun-kyu, known for "The Outlaws" and "Extreme Job," embodies the egotistical snacks company president, Byung-hoon. Han Sun-hwa takes on the role of Eun-sook, an unpredictable and overly emotional character entangled in Suk-ho’s machinations against Chi-ho and Il-young’s blossoming bond.

With their captivating on-screen chemistry, the ensemble promises a heartwarming and laughter-filled experience.
