Talahib: Shadows of Vengeance in the Fields of Fear

“There’s fear in forgiveness.”

Talahib is one of the finalists for the Full Length Film category at SINAG MAYNILA 2024.  This horror/thriller is written and directed by Alvin Yapan for FEAST Foundation.  The festival is slated on 4-8 Sep 2024 in Gateway and SM Manila. Other participating cinemas in Metro Manila, to be announced in the coming days.

Starring Joem Bascon, Gillian Vicencio, and Kristof Garcia. Also starring Jess Mendoza, Kate Alejandrino, Dax Alejandro, Angellie Sanoy, Timothy Castillo, Yam Mercado, Iyo Canlas, Olive Nieto, and Rex Lantano.

With the special participation of Mercedes Cabral, Sue Prado, and Johnny Revilla.

In the tradition of slasher and massacre films, “Talahib” reflects on the problem of forgiveness to break the cycle of violence.

A series of killings in the fields of “talahib” grasses in an abandoned subdivision sends a policeman and an inspector intro a criminal investigation. They are aided by a group of friends, caught loitering in the “talahiban,” along with a mysterious character who holds the key to the possible origin story of the killer.

The film is written and directed by Alvin Yapan who also helmed notable films such as “Ang Panggagahasa Kay Fe” (Cinemalaya 2009), “Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” and “Gayuma” (both Cinemalaya 2011), “Mga Anino Ng Kahapon” (2013), “Debosyon” (Cinemalaya 2013), “An Kubo Sa Kawayanan” (2015), “Oro” (MMFF 2016), and “Culion” (MMFF 2019).

Mr. Wilson Tieng of Solar Pictures and Direk Brillante Mendoza are the founder and festival director, respectively, of Sinag Maynila.
